Fashion Parade In H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus

" Faction is fun” was the theme of the annual fundraising fashion parade held at HMN.ZS. Pegasus last evening under the sponsorship of Messrs Beath and Company, H. C. Muir and Company, and the House of Raymonde. About 400 attended the show, which was held in aid of the Girls’ Nautical Training Corps and sea cadets from the training ship Cornwell. They were welcomed by a guard of honour composed of members of the training corps and sea cadets. An address was given by the president at the Canterbury branch of the Navy League (Mr P. D. Hall). He was introduced by the president of the Sumner sub. branch of the Navy League (Mr P. Todd). The trend towards blue was featured in summer and spring wear shown by the models. Shades ranged from lightest egg-shell or sky-blue through paste’ and deep blues to lighter and dark navy colourings. They were teemed mostly with white accessories and sophisticated touches of red. Other colours featured were white, pink, orange, turquoise, black and muted shades of cream, brown, pink and gold. Overseas Trends Many of the suits, dresses, skirts and hats modelled showed some of the latest overseas trends. Hats featured were mainly pill-box, beret and sailor types, skirts showed ths new fluid lines, pleated or gently flared and

suits the new elbow length jackets. Materials shown were mostly plain, with a few spotted, stripped and floral patterned fabrics included. Models included Mesdames Pamela Canning, of London, Yvonne Cummins, Iris Morgan, Marian Morgan, Anne Nicolil, Naire Johnson, Sara Archbold. Bridget Dampier - Crossley, Misses Elizabeth Elworthy, Eleanor Dell and Mr Jim Cahill, who modelled men’s clothes. Comperes were Mesdames Betty Carl and Peg Johnson. Music for the evening was provided by the Doug Caldwell trio. Supper was served by girls of the training corps and sea cadets. Cocktails were served during the evening.
