DRAINAGE BOARD
Engineering Changes Mr D. L. . Steven, the Christchurch Drainage Board’s sewage treatment engineer, will leave the board at the end of the year to undertake private work. Mr Steven has been a member of the board's engineering staff for the last 12 years. When the San Francisco consultants were engaged by the board to prepare the plans of the new sewage treatment works in Bromley, Mr Steven was sent to the United States to work on the scheme for a year; and after his return he was in charge of the construction of the plant. Recently the board decided that Mr Steven should be appointed deputy-chief engineer (operations), but he had not yet taken up that position. As a result of Mr Steven’s resignation, the board appointed Mr P. J. McWilliam, stormwater planning engineer, deputy to the chief engineer (operations). Mr G. S. Roberts, of the sewer planning section, was assigned to engineering liaison with Mr A. E. Lambden, the chemist at the treatment works. Mr G. F. James, of the planning division. was appointed to Mr McWilliam’s position, and the board agreed to advertise for a replacement for Mr James and an additional assistant for the sewer planning section.
