DOGS NOT DOSED
Owner Of 22 Fined £5
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 12. Failure to have her 22 dogs at a dosing strip on a date specified by the Wellington City Council cost Bernadette Mary Gibbs, a pensioner, of JohnsonvUle, a £5 fine and costs and a solicitor’s fee totalling £4 13s in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington today.
She pleaded not guilty before Mr M. B. Scully, S.M.
Gibbs said she attended the strip on the day, but without her dogs, and told the council inspector she would have her dogs dosed by a
veterinarian as soon as she could afford it She said it cost her £ll each time her dogs were dosed by the veterinarian, plus £5 hydatids control fee. which she had to pay to the council
With the regulations requiring four dosings a year, .her 22 dogs cost £49 a year.
“And they never have any hydatids because I always feed them properly,” Gibbs added.
