ANTICOMMUNIST PAMPHLETS

Distribution At Railway Station

Some anti-Communist pamphlets and booklets, of American origin, have been distributed among members of the Canterbury branch ot the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants. The pamphlets have been distributed to workers on the Christchurch Railway Station and in the goods sheds.

Two months ago, the distribution by the vice-chairman of the branch (Mr C. W. J. WalkMn) of a pamphlet bearing the imprint, “Printed by the Railways branch of the Communist Party,” caused a division of opinion among members of the union.

This week, the Ashburton branch of the AS.RS. dissociated itself from the action of Mr Walklin. According to a statement supplied by the executive, a large number of members at a meeting of the branch adopted a resolution to that effect.

The meeting objected to Mr Walklin’s circularising the Communist pamphlet and resolved that it would dissociate itself from him “or any other politically likeminded person on the Canterbury branch executive.”
