UNIVERSITY PAY IN N.S.W.

Govt. Opposes Increase

The New South Wales Government has challenged salary rises for academic staff at the University of New South Wales. It has referred to the Full Bench of the Industrial Commission for further consideration of a new award for the academic staff granting increases ranging from £365 to £lO3l a year.

The State political correspondent of the "Sydney Morning Herald” says that the Government has done this because of its concern that the award would start a chain reaction of salary increases throughout the Public Service.
