Appeal May Create New N.Z.B.C. Post

(From Our Own Reporter)

WELLINGTON, Oct. 12 A new desk to -he news section of the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation Is being prepared for Mr A. Fry, formerly of the staff of the “Listener," who this week won an appeal before the Public Service Appeal Board.

Mr Fry appealed against the salary of £ 1630 being paid Mr P. A. Fabian, the newlyappointed assistant news editor of the Corporation.

Winning bis appeal gives Mr Fry the same salary as Mr Fabian—but for him to return to the “Listener” might have its difficulties as he

won Id be receiving a higher salary than some of his colleague- to senior appointments. This would leave the way open for more appeals.

The final decision has not been made yet, but room is being made for another desk in the narrow confines of the building occupied by the news staff. An advertisement is expected in the Public Service circular for the job previously held by Mr Fry, at an advanced salary, expected to be about £1430.

The news service it is expected, will have two assistant news editors—but not for the price of one.
