Summer Prince, in the £5250 Caulfield Guineas on Saturday. The South Australian jockey, R Cox. will ride her. Proud Miss will by-pass the fillies’ race, the Maroorsa Handicap. in which she is topweight with 9-10 "She's earned that weight, but we've decided on the because she has to meet the top colts sometime." said trainer G. Proud Miss has started 17 times tor 13 wine, one second and two thirds, and is unbeaten in seven starts in Melbourne She beat the colts last season, and she will be the only filly in the Guineas on Saturday. Wiggle, in 1968, and Lady Sybil, in 1960, are the only fillies to have won the Caulfield Guineas in recent years. The favourite for the Guineas is Summer Prince, which did a winning gallop at Flemington yesterday. G Moore, who won the Derby on him. will be here tonight to ride Summer Prince in a gallop at Flemiiwtton tomorrow. Moore won on King Brian last year R Higgins wtH replace M Moore on last start Moonee Valley Stakes winner. Toherea Survey— Marine Department inspectors are now in the final stage of a survey of Toheroa beds on Nlnety-mfle Beach. The survey in the Dargaville and Muriwai areas has been completed. It is hoped to continue the survey next year before the season begins and again after it ends.— <PA.)
