Cruelty To Animals
Sir,—ln reply to “Down With Cruelty,” L as the owner of pats, would strongly urge her (or him) to join some animal welfare organisataon, if not the S.P.C.A then perhaps the necemtlyestaiblished All Breeds Cait Society (M she can find out where to address them), which was reported to be oonoerned with the welfare of cats. If these societies are numerically strong enough to make themselves heard, they can influence councils to pass by-laws making it illegal to selt traps within their boundaries. But without adequate numbers and the finance to carry on an educational campaign, nothing is done. And our pets and the poor unwanted strays must go on suffering this ghastly cruelty. Next week is Animal Week, when we should do something for their welfare, and joining the S.P.C.A. is one way of helping animals and reducing their sufferings.— Yours, etc., A.C.M. September 25, 1962.
