Hatch Breaks N.Z. Record (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Sept. 26. Three of the Empire Games ■wimming squad who missed selection entered the water at Tauranga today determined to show what they could do In unofficial time trials they all registered their best ever performances. P. Hatch broke his own New Zealand 110 yards freestyle record by O.lsec, clocking 58.4 sec; T. Graham swam the 110 yards breaststroke in 76.45ec, his best time and only o.3sec outside the national record. T. Dalton, a 440 yards swimmer, broke the 60sec for the 110 yards freestyle, taking 599tac. Mrs H. Rogers, a member of the Games teem, unofficially broke a New Zealand record. She took one second off the national 100 yards butterfly record with a time of 64.8 sec.

Girl Breaks 3 Records (NJ!. Press Association) INVERCARGILL Sep- 26 Miss J. Kennedy, of Invercargill, the Empire Games swimmer, clipped .9sec off her record tonight to set a new Southland and New Zealand Junior and Southland senior record for the junior girls’ 100 yards backstroke. Miss Kennedy’s time of 68.1 seconds was made in a special attempt. On Saturday, she will attempt to break the 220 yards backstroke record at present held by Miss M. Mcßae (Auckland) at 2min 46.45ee.
