Double Pick For Paeroa Today

"The Press" Special Service

AUCKLAND, Sept. 25. The T.A.B. double at the Ohlnemuri Jockey Club’s meeting tomorrow could go to Royal Filou and Pipe Dream. Royal Filou is right at his peak and Pipe Dream seems to be on the verge ol top-class sprinting form. All that might beat them ts a change to heavy going, which seems unlikely today. The track at Paeroa was continuing to dry nicely. At his iast start. Royal Filou won a middle-distance at Tauranga and the time before be was successful at Te Awamutu in a mile and a quarter, the distance of tomorrow’s course at Te Awamutu. He carried 8-4. Meanwhile the handicap scale has come down, so that this time in the Poland Cup he has 8-3

The runners most likely to try Royal Filou for early speed are Dipnoi, Mesopotamia and Sandamara. Dipnoi (8-2) is another last-start winner, his success being over the Poland Cup course at the Thames meeting the week before last. Dipnoi likes the wet, so if the weather changes his chance will be the brighter. From No. 1 at the barrier Pipe Dream is certain to make his opponents go very hard to get near him in the early running of the Flying Handicap. A three-year-old colt from Takanini, Pipe Dream showed great speed to start with and then managed a very fair sixth over six furlongs at Avondale on September 8 when he resumed racing after a winter layoff He is the better for that run and he should appreciate the firmer footing which is likely this time. Pipe Dream has 8-7. His hardest opponents might be Fair Blow, which has 8-9. Other notable sprinters in an unusually large field Include Speedwell, the top-weight with 9-0. Tormod May Not Run

“The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, Sept. 25.

Wtierees most of the Takanini acceptors for Paeroa tomorrow wound up the fast work in their training yesterday, Tormod galloped this morning and made very quick tune over five furlongs in 1:3 3-5. It is unlikely, however, that he will start tomorrow unless there is further rain to make the ground very soft
