PIGEON" RACING
Ashburton Club’s Opening Event Two races from Walpara marked the opening of the Ashburton Pigeon Club’s season recently. Representing 14 lofts, 55 cock birds competed in the first race, the winning bird flying the 77 miles tn Ihr 54min. In the second race, for hens, toe winning bird returned in Ihr 37min 30 sec. Thirty-three hens, from 12 lofts, competed. Results were:— Cocks’ race.—B. Kirwan 1, C. Kelly 2, J. Bishop 3. N. Clucas 4. R. Thomas 5, N. Beach 6. B Bayliss 7. N. Edmond 8. Hens’ Race.—R.
