NON-TARIFF COMPANIES

No Decision Yet On Rates

The non-tariff motor insurance firms will meet very soon to discuss the proposed increases in premiums by the tariff companies. said the chairman of the hoard of directors of the South Island Motor Union Mutual Insurance Association (Mr R. Twyneham) last evening.

He said he could not comment on the proposed increases until the matter had been discussed by the nontariff companies. The non-tariff companies had not made any plans to increase premiums but that would now have to be considered in the light of the proposed increases. Mr Twyneham added that the non-tar:"' firms would like to stabilise premiums but it was possible that they would have to be Adjusted to meet new benefits being conferred on the motorist.
