WITHDRAWAL OF PERMIT

Scots Youth On Second Charge (N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 24. Kenneth Mcßride, aged 17. who is facing a fresh theft charge in Scotland, will not be permitted to migrate to New Zealand. His permit will “certainly be cancelled,” the assistant Secretary of Labour (Mr H. Parsonage) said today. Cancellation would be subject only to official confirmation of the matter, he added. A cabled report says McBride pleaded guilty in an Argyllshire court on Saturday to stealing £65 from a handbag. He was remanded until tomorrow. Earlier this wear Mcßride was granted entry to New Zealand after Australia refused to admit him on the grounds of his coloured ancestry. Later, Australia lifted the ban.

Less than three weeks ago. Mcßride’s New Zealand entry permit was withdrawn when he faced a minor theft charge. It was reinstated when the youth was acquitted.

The Acting-Prime Minister (Mr Hanan) said today that if the report of the latest case against the youth was correct “then we can well do without him in New Zealand.”
