£30,000 FOR BOYSTOWN

Chicago Man’s Gift (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Sept. 24. ’Ahe Chicago philanthropist, Mr Clement E. Stone, has sent a bank draft for £30,000 to the Mayor of Auckland (Mr D. M. Robinson) for presentation to the Auckland Boystown building fund. The pair met in Chicago two years ago and Mr Robinson mentioned when passing a big new youth building that an appeal for a similar one was being made in Auckland.

The chance remark led to Mr Stone’s offer of a subsidy which was eventually increased to £30.000 if a similar amount was raised by Auckland before September 1.
