Tobacco Prices
Sir,-«-In your issue of August 9 the Price Tribunal authorised the Tobacco Trade Council to increase tobacco prices by Id a p&ket, making the more popular brand 4s 7d and the more expensive brands 4s 9d. For the protection of the public who smoke, I think it is only fair that the Price Tribunal or the Tobacco Trade Council should publish the trade names of the tobaccos selling at the two different prices.— Yours, etc., SMOKER. August 12, 1962. [The district officer of the Department of Industries and Commerce (Mr C. J. Carroll > said: “The brand names of the tobacco that retail at 4s 7d are: Bear's cigarette; Greys’ fine and coarse cut; Kauri fine cut; Park Drive fine cut; Pocket Edition; and Silver Fern fine cut. The brand names of the tobacco that retail at 4s 9d are: Black and White fine cut: Capstan medium; Havelock dark, aromatic, and mixture: Temple Bar sweet slice: and Three Castles, medium.”]
