Fiji-Auckland Cable Plans

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Sept 1« The cable-laying ship. Monarch, had left England to lay the first lengths of the FijiAuckland link in the Commonwealth Pacific telecommunications cable, the Direc-tor-General of the Post Office. Mr Dawson Donaldson, said in Auckland today. The same technique will be used in the laying of this cable as was used for the Sydney-Auckland link. The Fiji-Auckland cable is expected to be complete by the end of this year, and the final Pacific link is expected to be complete by the end of 1963
