Wanted
Pupils seeking enrolimenit at Riccarton High School next year will be asked for their Ferm I report® with their applications for enroLment. the school's board of governors agreed yesterday. A letter was received rom the Canterbury School Committees’ Association asking “he board to cease requesting Form I reports, and to ensure only that the boy or girl was applying for entry at one school.
The headmaster. Mr A. J. Gainsford, saud this was the first year that reoonts had been requested. The information. he said, was enough to suggest the type of course that would suit a pupil.
‘Tt -is a bit of fore knowledge and backed with tests gives us some idea of the pupils’ capabilities We find the reports very useful and it is customary for other schools to ask for them.” said Mr Gadnsford. He said the reports were returned to the pupil. Mr M Butler said that considering Mr Gaiinsford’s recommendation, the school should continue the practice of asking for reports.
