McNally To Rest
Paddy McNally, the Dunedin professional welterweight boxer, was having bis fourth bout in eight weeks when he met and beat Sam Leudi art Canterbury Court last week. Asked if he was going to try for the New Zealand welter-weight title, at present held by Hini Forsyth. McNally, after his narrow win over Leuii, said he was feeling rather jaded and would rest for a few weeks at least McNally, aged 18. has had eight boats since turning professional this season. He has won six (including two wins over Leuii, both on a split decision); both his losses were to Trevor Christian, an Australian. McNally is the youngest professional boxing in New Zealand. At 14. he became the youngest amateur ever to win a New Zealand title. He had 98 bouts as an amateur, losing only five. He won three national titles and also was an Australasian champion. Before coming to New Zealand, Leuii had 48 bouts in Samoa as an amateur, losing only two. He has had 11 professional fights here and has won six.
