A ballot Wil be necessarv for ’he election of council members of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association at the associatiicn's annual meeting this evening. Twenty-six nominations have been retx ived for the 20 seats on the council. Mr R. H. Siewert will be reelected unopposed for his second year as president. Messrs R. G. Pearce and A. R. Cutler will be elected vicepresidents. unopposed. In bis annual report to be presented this evening. Mr Stewart says that the membership cf the association is 555 compared with 537 at the end of June last year. A sharp increese is shown in subsorp'iicn incctne.
Acceding to the report, the 18 resignations were mainly from small manufacturers who had ceased business in Christchurch and se ne companies which had been taken over by other members. During the year, more than 130 association committee trade group meetings were held the report adds.
