N.Z. WORKERS’ UNION
Support For F.O.L
Some concern over past and current disagreements between faction leaders in the Federation of Labour was expressed by members present yesterday at a combined meeting of the Christchurch and Dunedin branch executives of the New Zealand Workers’ Union. In a statement after the meeting, the national secretary of the union (Mr H. J. Allen, of Wellington) said the meeting reaffirmed its confidence in the Federation of Labour, but resolved that "personalities should be kept out of it.”
“The F.O.L. should be used in the interests of the worker generally. It is the instrument to be used on behalf of all the workers because it is the instrument which should represent the bargaining power of all the workers.
"The meeting passed a resolution that it still supports the F.O.L. because it is the instrument combining and unifying the unions affiliated to it. and should act on behalf of all unions,” Mr Allen said.
