Practical Talks On Vegetables

A full lecture' discussion day on vegetables is to be held at the Girl Guides’ Hall, 217 Armagh street, Christchurch, next Tuesday, September 11.

Leading horticulturists will be speaking on subjects in which they have specialised practical knowledge. All speakers will place emphasis on the home vegetable garden, with subjects such as soil management and fertilisers, seasonal planting, sowing and rotation, cultural attention, herbs for the home garden, pest and disease control in vegetables, aids to early cropping, harvesting and storage and uncommon vegetables. In the evening a trains trust will be chaired by Mr L. W. McCaskill, when members of the audience will be able to put questions to the panel on any horticultural subject. The day commences with enrolments at 9 a.m. and the opening address will be at 9.30 a.m. An entry fee of 15s will be charged, which will entitle all those attending to a free booklet on the proceedings. The day is open to all members of the public.
