CITY PARKING
Deputation Reports On Meeting
A recent deputation to the Christchurch City Council on off-street parking was informed that the council would not be satisfied until a parking building was contained in every block of the city. The statement was made by Mr P. M. Mac Shane, president of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, last evening, when the chamber's deputation’s meeting with a City Council parking subcommittee.
“It is encouraging that the City Council has a forwardlooking view on this question of parking, which is of such importance to all of us,” said Mr Mac Shane. “I think it would be appropriate if we place on record our appreciation of the way the committee received our deputation, and the results which come of it,” he said.
The deputation's report was adopted, and a further deputation on Septem12—to discuss with the City Council traffic committee the guestion of parking near the hristchurch railway station, and the encouragement of motorists to use the correct lanes in Moorhouse avenue—was approved.
