I. McNish Wins Boys’ Title
The annual August holidays coaching classes in golf for young people, conducted by the Golf Foundation, culminated in a tournament at Harewood course yesterday. About 100 young people participated; among them for the first time, being competitors from Timaru.
The course was in splendid order, but blustery winds made good scoring difficult. Under the conditions. I. McNish's winning score of 78 in the boys’ tournament was a most creditable effort.
The boys’ tournament, which was organised by Mr A. R. Blank, produced good competition. G. Irving, one of the Timaru competitors. pressed McNish close, while W. Anderson and R. Bradley were one stroke further back. The witmer of the under-17 grade was V. Bishop, with 85. while R. Peate was successful in the under-16 contest with a fine 81. H.
