VITAL MATCH FOR LINCOLN
Challenge In Doubt The senior reserve match between Christchurch and University A at North Park today will have a vital bearing on the result of the grade championship and whether Lincoln College will challenge Belfast, the bottom team in the senior grade, in a promotion-relegation match. Christchurch leads the grade with ISi points, followed by Marist and Lincoln College (13) and University A (12J). If Christchurch wins this match it will win the grade, and thus Lincoln College will not be able to challenge Belfast. However, if University beats Christchurch and Lincoln College either draws or wins its match against Air Force, then it must finish first or first equal. If Lincoln College does have the right to challenge it will be the first promotion-relega-tion match played since 1954. when Merivale successfully challenged Air Force. On its performances this season. Lincoln College could find Belfast hard to beat. Belfa t met with little success In the senior grade, but generally gave the weaker teams a good match Since the finish of the senior grade on August 28 Belfast has been training regularly in preparation for the possible match against Lincoln College.
