Badminton INJURY TO J. ROBSON
Withdraws In Semi-Final (NZ. Press Association) DUNEDIN. Aug. 31. Auckland players dominated the semi-finals of the New Zealand badminton championships in Dunedin tonight. The number three and four seeds R Purser and K Long, entered the final of the men’s singles after the second seed. J. Robson. injured a leg during his match against Long and had to withdraw. The Otago pair. Lee Tuck Chew and G. Hinton, reached the final of the men's doubles, but the other semi-final was held over until tomorrow night to give Robson a chance to recover. Mrs H. Robson and Mrs V Gow will contest the final of the women’s singles, and are partnered In the doubles final. Results were:— Men's Singles Semi-finals—R Purser (Auckland beat O. Clegg (Taranaki). 15- 15-8: K. tong (Auckland) beat J B. Robson (Auckland). 16- 6-3. (Robson withdrew.) Women’s Singles Semi-finals. Mrs V. Gow (Auckland). 11-8. 11-8: Mrs H. (Auckland) beat Miss A. Glenie Robson (Auckland) beat Miss G. Simpson (Auckland). 11-6. 11-2. Men’s Doubles Semi-finals—Lee Tuck Chew and G. Hinton (Otago) beat Clegg and Purser. 15-11. 15-12. Women’s Doubles Semi-finals.—Mesdames Robson and Gow beat Mesdames D Hav and M. Rennie (Otago). 154. 15-8; Misses Simpson and Glenie beat Miss M. Moorhead and Mrs M. Clegg (Taranaki). 15-11, 15-8. Mixed Doubles Semi-finals.—Hinton and Mrs Hay beat Robson and Mrs Robson by default: Purser and Miss Moorhead beat Long and Mrs Gow. 13-15, 15-12. 15-11.
