GIRLS’ HOSTEL EXTENSION
Subsidy Of Half Of Cost The Government has granted a subsidy of 50 per cent, of the cost of additions to the Mansfield avenue hostel for teen-age working girls run by the Social Service Council of the Diocese of Christchurch. "Working drawings and specifications have now been prepared, and we are awaiting the approval of the Health Department before tenders are called,” said Mr G. M. Morgan, director of the council. The additional wing will provide accotnmhdation for seven girls and a flat for the matron. At present the hostel can accommodate eight girls. The present kitchen and diningroom have been redesigned to cater for the increase in accommodation.
