Ceylon Minister’s New Office
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) COLOMBO. Aug. 27. Mr Charles Percival de Silva, the 50-year-old Minister of Agriculture in Ceylon. was today appointed acting Finance Minister in succession to Mr Felix Dias Bandaranaike, who resigned his portfolio last week in protest at the Government’s decision to withdraw the major budget proposal, a cut in the rice tax.
Stamp Exhibition. — As part of the centenary celebration' commemorating the founding of the International Committee of the Red Cross in 1863. the International Red Cross is holding in Geneva from August 15 to September 15. 1963, a series of exhibitions, one of which will be a philatelic exhibition that will be open to collectors throughout the world.—(P-A.)
