Wilson, a 17-year-old Dunedin left-hander, headed the qualifiers when the inaugural New Zealand boys’ golf championship began at the Miramar course today. The St. Clair club player had rounds of 85 and 76 for 161. There were heavy conditions and a biting southerly for the morning round, but the improvement in the weather after lunch was reflected in secondround scores. The 16 qualifiers will play two rounds of match play tomorrow. The final, for a cup given by the Governor-General (Lord Cobham) will be played on Thursday. Qualifiers today for match play weer:— 161.
