SYDTREV FIT
Steeples At Gore “The Press" Special Service DUNEDIN, August 28. Sydtrev showed that he was in first-class order to contest the Eastern Southland Hack and Hunters' Steeplechase at Gore on Saturday when he worked in an attractive manner at Wingatui this morning. Overhead conditions were ideal. The tracks were heavy after overnight rain and the work was confined to the plough. Cairns, he was accompanied by Roseair (H. T. Anderton) over five furlongs in imin 8 3-ssec. the first two furlongs in 27sec. Tombob (J. B. Dowling) covered the same ground in Imin 9sec. the last three furlongs in 42sec, but he appeared to be under a good hold and could have Improved on these times. Like For Sure. Anderton), Captain Morgan (J. Carvalho) and McGregor (R. J. Skelton) at the end of their six furlongs gallop, in which they came home the last five furlongs in Imin Bsec, and the final three furlongs in 41sec. The Wanderer, a last start winner over a sprint distance at the Otago Hunt meeting, will be tried over a mile and a quarter in the President’s Handicap, the first leg of the double. Skelton). Coral Maid <R. Wilder) and Innuendo (E. J. Didham) finished in a bunch in Imin 9 sec, the first two furlongs in 28see. Kumai (J. Carvalho), which is coming along nicely in his preparation, was a length clear of Chartlea Park (L. Tyree) in the same times.
