DELAYS TO AWARD
Deadlock On Assessor (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 28. Attempts to begin award conciliation proceedings for the national freezing industry again failed today when some freezing worker assessors refused to sit with a fellow assessor, Mr T. C. Gallagher. The negotiation of the national award, which affects about 18,500 freezing workers, has now been held up nearly a month on the same question. Mr Gallagher was a witness in the slander case brought against the Federation of Labour president, Mr F. P Walsh, and the federation subsequently refused to recognise him as a delegate. The employers’ principal assessor, Mr J. B. Walton, said he did not know when proceedings would start. “Everything is in a state of confusion,” he said. Tinwald Post Office The new Post Office building at Tinwald will be officially opened by the Post-master-General (Mr Kinsella) lit 1.30 p.m. on September 14.'
