MEETINGS AT NIGHT

Approval At Greymouth Night trotting for Greymouth has become a definite objective of the Grevmouth Trotting Club’s comi ittee. At * special meeting last week, the committee affirmed in principle a change to night trotting, and recommended a special meeting of the club next February to discuss the date of the change. Earlier moves towards night trotting in Greymouth have been defeated at annual meetings of the club. It was to have been discussed again at the annual meeting this week, on notice of motion given bv a vice-president. Dr. B. W. Nixon, with the support of the West Coast Owners', Trainers’ and Breeders’ Association.

Dr. Nixon has now withdrawn his motion, and will substitute another based on the committee’s resolution.

The cost of converting the track was estimated last year to be about £14.000. If an immediate change is approved by the special meeting in February the committee will obtain finance and arrange for the lighting of the track and park, and the provision of other facilities.
