Mr Phizacklea At Oval
The prominent Rugby referee, Mr R. W. Phizacklea, marked his last week-end in Christchurch by controlling toe Canterbury-Southland representative match on Lancaster Park Oval on Saturday afternoon. Mr Phizacklea, a Railways Department officer, leaves this week on transfer to Hamilton.
At a reception to the Southland team after the match the president of the Canterbury Rugby Union (Mr J. O. Hattersley) paid a tribute to Mr Phizacklea’s fine work as a referee.
Mr Phizacklea said he had enjoyed his six years of refereeing in Christchurch and was indebted to his fellow referee, Mr V. J. Langford for standing down to allow him to control a representative game op his last Saturday in the city. He wished the Canterbury team well in its game against Australia next Saturday and in its Ranfurly Shield challenge against Auckland on September 15.
“John Graham has got me a ticket—l'll be there," he promised.
Good Victory For Riccarton H.S.
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. Riccarton High School beat the Wellington Club’s under 18 Rugby team, 24-8, at Wellington on Saturday. The outstanding player on the field was Riccarton’s right wing, B. Prebble. the South Island junior sprint champion, who scored four tries.
