Bus Concessions
Sir, —All credit to Mrs Macfarlane in her effort to get bus concessions for pensioners. As a pensioner, I neither ask for nor want charity or pity—only a fair deal. I am one of those who gave sweat, blood, and toil, in the two World Wars, including the Battle of Britain, in uniform and out. It is now my privilege to Live in a little home away out in the suburbs of Christchurch To see my friends in other suburbs costs 4s or more return. I receive £4 15s a week pension, for which I paid full contributions till the day I retired. From this I pay rent. coal, light, doctors’ bills and part of the cost of medicine ordered by him: the remainder for food and clothes—not beer, petrol l or tobacco —Yours, etc.. | A GRANDMOTHER.
