TROTTING WHEN AND ROBERT MEDORO
Prospects In Addington
Trotters’ Races
When and Robert Medoro should make amends for defeats last Saturday and win the two races on the programme for trotters when the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club holds the second day of its national meeting at Addington tomorrow.
When will be bracketed with With You in the Winter Free-for-all, which will be started from the starting gate if track conditions are suitable. Otherwise it will be started from a stand and the distance will be increased to 13 furlongs. Provided the track is not too heavy, When should be too speedy for most in the event.
When finished with a great burst of speed to take third place behind Moon Boy and Spinster Scott in the Christchurch Handicap last Saturday. Even though she has drawn badly, the starting gate should assist her to keep fairly handy to the lead early. With You received a shocking run last week and he could do better in this event, especially if the track is soft. On a good track. Moon Boy should make a bold bid to win his second race at the meeting. There was considerable merit in his effort last Saturday and if he races as well this week, he will be the hardest for When to beat.
Spinster Scott’s bold run to finish second to Moon Boy last Saturday was a useful effort and if she can master the extra distance in this
event she should again earn some of the stake.
Kennoway and Flaming Way finished boldly for fifth and sixth respectively in the Christchurch Handicap last Saturday and they should again race prominently. Fourina, a good fifth in a slower class last week, and Dark Lorene should both give a good account of themselves on a soft track, and even if the going is firm, they will have to be respected. Robert Medoro could turn the tables on last week's winner, Astralight, in the Addington Handicap. Robert Medoro had little in his favour last Saturday, when he did not look to be quite as far forward as Astralight. He should strip a fitter horse this week and as he will meet Astralight on 24 yards more
favourable terms, his chances must be highly rated. Astralight won most convincingly last Saturday and if allowed to make his own rules in front, he will again be hard to beat.
Spark Gap and Minnow finished in the money last Saturday and they should again add interest to the finish. Of the others none
appeal more than Dame Margot and Doctor Kyle, neither of which was really dangerous last Saturday. ' The double will be run on the National Handicap and the Wildwood Handicap, Scottish Light and Sally Boy forming a likely combination on a firm track. Further unsettled weather is forecast, but if there are a few hours of drying before the first race, the track could be in good order.
