£489,169 WOOL CHEQUE
InvercargiH Joint Sale
(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, August 23. Total realisation from the Invercargill winter wool sale, held in conjunction with the Dunedin sale on August 13, was £489,169, compared with £483,671 at the corresponding sale last season. This was an increase of £5498, but was the result of an increased offering of 844 bales. The offering at this year’s sale was 10,519 bales com-pared with 9675 bales at last year’s sale. Slight Easing
But for the increased offering, there would have been a decline in the total realisation because prices showed a slight easing. At the winter sale last year the average price per lb was 33.8 d compared with 32.55 d this year, a decline of 1.25 d, and the average price a bale was £49 19s lOd last year compared with £46 10s Id this year, a decline of £3 9s 9d.
Cable Price Divs.—Cable Price Downer, Ltd., half-year to September 30. A preference dividend 3J per cent., payable October 1, ex September 8. B preference. 2J per cent., payable October 31, ex October 2. C preference, 2j per cent., payable October 1, ex September 7. The participating dividend of 1 per cent, already declared on C preference shares up to March 31, 1962, will also be paid on October 1, ex September 7.
