BUSINESS STUDY COURSE

More Than 150 Attend

The role of the modern university was not only to teach and organise research but to integrate itself with the community, said the Chancellor of the University of Canterbury (Mr C. H. Perkins) opening a study conference arranged by the adult education department of the University for accountants and business executives last evening. He said that the response to the course, more than 150 persons had enrolled, had been most encouraging to those who saw the university playing a vital past in the life of the community. Those attending the course were welcomed by Professor A. S. Carrington, professor of accountancy at the university, and Mr R. L. Evans, president of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. The study course, which will last two days, will be a wide discussion of financing New Zealand business today.
