DRIVERS’ UNION MEETING

Fifty Excused From Attending

Drivers serving essential industries and institutions have been exempted from attending a stop-work meeting at the Civic Theatre on August 28 of members of the Canterbury Drivers’ Union.

The 50 men who are exempted include drivers who are serving hospitals or delivering meat and milk. The meeting, one of several to be held throughout New Zealand on that day. has been called by the New Zealand Drivers' Union as a protest against the wage offer made by the employers at a Conciliation Council meeting in Wellington recently. A stop-work meeting also will be held in Ashburton.
