Billiards SURPRISES IN N.Z. TITLES
Yesberg Defeats Auckland Winner (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL. August 22. For the second time in two days, T. Yesberg, the Canterbury champion, caused a surprise in the New Zealand amateur billiards championship in Invercargill. Today, he defeated A. Albertson, the Auckland title-holder, following his win against A. Twohill the day before. Consistent play gave him a good average, and at one stage he was 200 ahead of Albertson.
A promising performance was recorded by 24-year-old K Murphy of Canterbury, who defeated W. Glass (Auckland). 552-441 including a break of 80 Results were: A. Twohill (West Coast) 666. T. Scammeli (West Coast) 359: A. Redmond (Auckland) 429, S. Moffitt (Oamaru) 347; K Murphy (Canterbury) 552, W. Glass (Auckland) 441; T Yesberg (Canterbury) 473, A. Albertson (Auckland) 326.
