Skulls, Flesh Seized

Police killed nine warriors from a tribe that allegedly practises human sacrifice, the Philippine New* Service said, according to the Associated Press from Manila. The battle took place on Monday in the mountains of Zamboanga del Sur province, on Mindanao Island, in the southern Philippines, the report said. Three human skulls and two baskets of dried human flesh were seized. Eighteen persons including 10 women and children were captured.
British Army.—Britain’s Regular Army has reached its minimum strength target of 165,000 men—four months before its target date—the Secretary for War (Mr John Profumo) said today.—(London, August 21.)
