Sir,—May I back Mr Morris, vicar of St. John’s, Woolston, in everything be said in hia sermon last evening and reported in “The Press” today? It is high time responsible citizens took a firm stand to have a elean sweep of this type of literature from our country. Also, each one of us should ask ourselves: “Are we setting a good example to the young people m our midst?” Do we indulge in too much liquor? Do we dress modestly? If we do not set a good example then it is high time we did something about it. How difficult it must be to bring up a family today when so much that is harmful is put before them at every turn. Trusting something will be done to remedy this state of affairs.—Yours, etc., E.N.F. August 20. 1962.
Sir,—Congratulations to a man who has the courage and Christian sincerity to come out in the open and launch such a convincing attack on present-day conditions, concerning. as he terms it. “sexy literature "end advertisements.” I, for one, cannot understand why the church has remained silent for so long. Hie sermon should concern every Christian in the community. When one sees the pictures and reads the advertisements in our daily papers one would think a foundation garment and “bra" are a woman’s main interest. Of course we all know big business is behind ail this, and this is all that concerns some people. A few more home truths and sermons as delivered by the Rev L. N. Morris last Sunday evening are what we need.— Yours, etc..
