DIRECTOR OF ARTILLERY
Major J. F. Spring Appointed
Major J. F. Spring, at present temporary chief of staff and brigade major at Southern Military District headquarters. will take up his appointment as Director of the Royal New Zealand Artillery at Army Headquarters on'September 6.
Major Spring is to be replaced at S.M.D. by Major B. W. Brighouse, R.N.Z.E., who will take up his new aopolntment on September 17. Major Brighouse is at present officer commanding the School of Military Engineering at Linton camp. He is also officer commanding the 6th Independent Field Squadron.
Captain J. G. Kelly, at present with the 3rd Troop, 6th Independent Field Squadron based in Christchurch, will replace Major Brighouse.
One Tree Hill.— Vandals have almost hacked and sawn through the trunk of one of two pine trees on the summit of One Tree hill, Auckland. The tree is so damaged that it will have to be felled.—(P.A.)
