DUNEDIN. August 21. Rondabelle, a neat filly by Bellborough from the Treasure Hunt mare Rondel, was the moat Impressive two-year-old which paraded at the Otago Hunt's meeting on Saturday. The imported sire Bellborough, which is standing at the Hampton bodge Stud at Invercargill. was also represented by the runner-up in the first division, Mrs W. Robertson's chestnut gelding, and by the filly from Carillon, which won the second division. Rondabelle is trained at Wingatui by R. Heasley for her Dunedin breeder. Mr E. C. S. Falconer, who is at present overseas. She is a granddaughter of the IM3 McLean Stakes winner, Lyndall, which was a half-sis-ter by Man’s Pal to the brilliant sprinter Irish Note, which holds the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Riccarton racecourse record of Imin Osec for six furlongs. Ridden by R. J. Skelton, Rondabelle started brilliantly, but bounded over to the rails. She was never headed and won by four lengths.
Mrs W. Roberteon’e gelding is trained by H. A. Anderton, who also prepares the Bellborough filly from Carillon. Salericho, the dam of Mrs Robertson's gelding. ia by Salmagundi from the Jericho mare. Jericho Jane. Salericho was bred by Mr W. Croekett. at Palmerston. Blue Rose was next to finish, ahead Of Golden Craze. A filly by Blueskin from the Resurgent mare, Rising High. Blue Rose was purchased at the Trentham yearling sales by Mr B. F. Waters. Lower Hutt, for 3M guineas. She is trained by D. G. O'Neill. One of the best of her family was Gold Medal, winner of the Anniversary and January Handicaps at Trentham Golden Craze is trained by A. N. Didham for his Dunedin breeder Mr J. Palmer. He is a half-brother by Messmate to Corvale.
The fiily from Carillon was bred by her Southland owners. Messrs E. J. and H. D. Irving, who raced Carillon, a Lo Zingaro mare.
The filly showed early speed to beat the Castle Donnington coltprepared by B. J- Cochrane at Gore for his Dunedin own'ers, Messrs R. J. Gilbert and C. H. S. Stevens. He was bred by Mr C. E. Larsen, vice-president of the Forbury Park Trotting Club.
By Pride of Kildare, Lady Kildare is a member of the famous "March’’ family. Regal Birthday, a filly by Harken from Royal Birthday, is trained by A. I. Powell for her Gore breeder, Mr T. M. Kelly. She is a half-sister to Birthright and the smart galloper Happy Birthday Fourth in this division was Mr J. Cook's colt by Wedgewood from Supermarine He is trained by A. N. Didham. He was bred by his owner at Wyndham. There were eight runners in the first division and nine in the second. The sprint was over two furlongs. Stalls were not used.
