WELLINGTON AIRPORT
Importance In Network (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 21. The airfield causing most concern is Wellington, not because of weather, but because it is the key to the whole network, says the annual report of the National Airways Corporation tabled in the House of Representatives today. The corporation drew attention in its last annual report to the need for Raraparaumu, as an alternative, and for full operation of Wellington Airport radar. As yet, neither requirement has been fulfilled, the report says. With increasing traffic, weather diversion problems will become bigger and the corporation may have to reconsider its policy, ceasing its services in times of major disruption. Only 14 of every 1000 scheduled services on N.A.C.'s network were not completed in the year ended on March 31, 1962. compared with 18 the previous year.
