Big Victorian Turnover (NX. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY. August 20. A former chairman of the Australian Jcckey Club. Sir Alan, who resigned as chairman of the AJ C. on Friday, said this today before the New South Wales Illegal Off-Course Betting Royal Commission.

The figures had shown that the Victorian totalisator system had a turnover of only I £ A 20.000.000.

| Sir Alan told the commisision: “The wide disparity I could only be due to the 'fact that illegal betting had ' not been eliminated in Vic--1 toria.” ’ Sir Alan said he was the only opponent of an off- . course totalisator plan on the A.J C. committee. | He considered that any legalised off-course system i would have to provide the I same facilities or nearly the 'same facilities as the public i had been used to through i the years. 1 Sir Alan said he told the committee he considered a legalised off-course system of i bookmakers would get the ! race clubs much more money :and get it more quickly.
