Took Wallet With £l20

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. August 19 A naval rating told the Magistrate’s Court yesterday that when he produced his wallet to lend a man some money, the man took the wallet and made off. Before the Court, charged with stealing a wallet containing £l2O. was Marshall Michael Lawrence Taniwha, a workman, aged 27. Taniwha pleaded not guilty. Mr M. B. Scully, S.M., convicted Taniwha and remanded him in custody for a week for probation reports.

Darts Title. — In the final of the men’s pairs event at the Canterbury darts championships, J. Gough and W. Lagutula (Phoenix) beat W. Blackter and J. Phillips (Bower).
