FREEDOM FROM HUNGER

N.Z. Congratulated On Fund Raising

“The result of New Zealand’s fund-raising effort will be a great incentive to other countries,” said the deputy-director-general of the Food and Agriculture Organisation in Rome (Mr N. C. Wright) in a letter to the freedom from hunger campaign fund in New Zealand. Mr Wright was congratulating New Zealand on the success of its record-breaking drive for campaign funds which have now reached £280,000. The latest donations to the campaign fund include a cheque for £lOO from a Wellington doctor and a cheque for £4 16s frond two people in Marton.

In a covering letter on the £4 16s it was explained that for a month every time they had a meal they put 6d aside.
