WAITAKI GIRLS SELL LUNCHES

£lB Collected For C.0.R.5.0.

(N.Z. Press Association) OAMARU, Aug. 24. Thirty girls of Form 5 Cl at Waitaki Girls’ High School entered the catering business yesterday. They sold 260 lunches at Is 6d a time to other girls at the school and as a result they collected some £lB Is 6d for C.0.R.5.0. The lunch packs contained four sandwiches, a cake, a hot savoury and one apple and each girl was also given a cup of cordial. The cakes and savouries were made by the girls at home the night before and the sandwiches were prepared in the school’s cooking room on the day the lunches were sold. The 260 lunches were all sold within 25 minutes. The buyers formed up in queues, collected an open paper bag containing sandwiches, cake and apple and as they filed out a hot savoury was added to the meal.
