DUNEDIN, August 14. A sound trial by Captain Hunt and a smart five furlongs by Chattel and Coral Maid were features of the track work at Wingatui yesterday, when horses engaged at the Otago Hunt meeting on Saturday held most interest

Ridden by R. J. Skelton, Captain Hunt ran six furlongs in Imin 23sec. the first three in 40sec The Treasure Hurrt gelding has been schooled for a jumping career, but on Saturday be will contest the Tally-Ho Handicap, the first leg of the TA B. double. He will be ridden by the Riccarton apprentice, R W. Donovan Most of the wk was held on the plough The tracks were sodden, but overhead conditions were ideal. Milord (S. Diacki went over the same ground in Imin 27 3-seec. the first three furlongs in 43sec The Wanderer (B. J. Anderton) ran the last four of five furlongs in 58sec. Showed Ability

Chattel (R J Skelton) and Coral Maid (R. Wilder) showed ability in the going when they completed five fu-longs in Imin 7 2-ssec Fire Bar (R. J. Pledger) and Ops (H J Powell) ran five furlongs in Imin lOsec. the first two tn 27sec. One of the best hatf-mile gallops was recorded by Reeco (B J. Anderton) and Joßy Fox CR J. Skelton). They took 56sec, the last three in 41 4-ssec Monrovia (A. I Powell) and Lord Fair (R Wilder) ran their first furlong in 14sec and were oc terras at the end of four in 56sec Fair Note (R. J. Skelton) shaded For Sure (J D. Pankhurst) and Radiant Howe (J R Dowhng) in 56sec. the first furlong in 13 2-ssec Prince Filou (E J Didham) came home from the three furtonga in 4teec Super Sage (J D Pankburat) was not extended in 43sec. The track will be heavy

for Saturday’s meeting. The course proper will not be open this week, but jumpers which have not had experience over the Wingatui country will be permitted to school over the main steeplechase course on Thursday morning. Schooling Solidity recorded a good trial tor the Otago Hunt Cup when he schooled with Salty and Home Game over two rounds and eight fences on the inside steeplechase course at Wingatui this morning. Solidity was ridden by the stable horseman. S. Diack Salty (P. J. Denton) and Home Game (B. P Kennedy) also jumped well, the three horses completing the school on terms. Salty and Home Game then jumped two hurdles. Salty, one of the fourhorse bracket from J. S. McKay’s team engaged in the B S. Irwin Steeples for amateur riders, has shown good form in the hunting field and at point to point meetings. Hdiobeam (C, C. Mould) gave a most attractive display in a mixed school over brush fences and hurdles. She is engaged in the B S Irwin Steeples in which she will be ridden by Mould

The New Zealand galloper Burgos, which was scratched from Saturday’s Warwick Farm meeting, showed there was nothing amiss with him by working stylishly at Randwick today. With G. Moore in the saddle, he proved too smart for his stablemate, Kandavu (A. Mulley). He won a fourfurlong gallop by a length, clocking 521 sec, on a heavy track.
