JUDGES PICKED FOR 1963 WOOL AWARDS

Two Australian fashion authorities will be included tn the judging panel for the Wool Board’s national wool awards contest of 1963. the board’s director of trade promotion (Mr O. Dillon) has announced.

They are Miss Mona Craw, ford, who recently retired from the position of fashion director at Mark Foys, Sydney. and Mr H. Forrester menswear controller for David Jones of Sydney Other judges are Mrs Marie Stutts rd. fashion editor of "Vogue.” New Zealand, and Mr M. Higgins, tech- cal officer of the Wool Board. Judging would take place in manufacturers’ own display rooms and not at Wool House Wellington, as in the last two years, said Mr Dillon. Starting at the end of this month, the judges would visit major cities. At the rate at which entries were being received from manufacturers, they might have to make more than 150 calif. "One reason for the change is the increasing number of entries.” said Mr Dillon. "Last year, our staff had their hands full unpacking. sorting, displaying and repacking more than 660 garments. Interest has since '-een so great that it was obvious the task was going to become bigger still.” From the ranges they see. the judging team will select wooden garments which for fabric, style, cut and finish they consider worthy of awards. Selection will entitle the manufacturer to attach a special *ag to the garment

A small number wiH be sent to Wellington for the final selection of gold medal winners and the garment that takes the supreme award. As in former years, the contest embraces almost the whole field of formal and casual wear in woo! for men and women.

“There are going to be marked developments in the autumn-winter wool ranges for men and women.” sai ’ Mr Dillon. "Results of the judging will be ‘under wraps’ until the season opens birt they should make an exciting display when the wraps are off.”
