Police have started a search for a man who walked into a suburban bank and changed a number of musty George VI issue notes tor new £lO notes The old notes are believed by police to be part of the £31.000 stolen from Hillston in western New South Wales two weeks ago The man pushed a roll of 180 single notes across the counter to the teller “Would you give me 18 tenners, please?" he said As the teller checked through the roll he noticed six of the notes were of George VI issue and that all had a musty smell Banks throughout New South Wales had been warned to be on the lookout for George VI notes, now withdrawn from issue, but still legal tender The man pocketed the money and left the bank A police search has so far failed.
